An Urban Harvest
As I survey our first attempt at raised garden vege beds, I am always captivated by the tiny creep of garden growth. I stalk the veges, watching their every incremental move - for the sign of my first eatable tomato, or a carrot that will afford me more than one mouthful.
This new-found love of a vege garden (most of the work must be attributed to my wife and house mate) only adds to my love of FARMERS MARKETS.
Meeting the people who grow the veges, fish the fish, rear the livestock, or in our case grow the coffee (I know, a bit of a stretch....but try me, I can tell you about our coffee farmers lives) is a wonderful place to learn who grows our food and what makes it so wonderful.
In any case, those of us who live in Wellington have not have an official farmers market (according to Farmers Markets New Zealand Inc: www.farmersmarkets.org.nz) - up till now!
Starting Saturday 6th February, the HILL ST FARMERS MARKET will be bringing the 'produce to the people' as the first and only authentic farmers market in Wellington. Very exciting!
And we at Peoples Coffee are more than happy to promote their inaugraural opening day in two weeks time. Please do spread the word, (plus circulate their attached poster) and join us as we serve fresh espresso and our single origin range at the WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL on Hill St, Thorndon from 9am.
Fingers crossed we won't need umbrellas!
Just so you know we quickly eyeball any blog comments before we make them live.
