Tadesse Meskela - The Espresso Blend that is..
One of the interesting parts of roasting coffee is being able to experience the roast development of each different coffee origin. As it advances through the different stages of the roast, different smells and colours become apparent. A good roaster knows the different characteristics and dynamics of each origin and tweaks their roasts to bring out the flavors they want. This understanding of the complex elements of each origin is then used to combine them to a composition required to produce a quality espresso blend.
Peoples Coffee visit growers as regularly as we can, and you can't help but feel an affection for some of the more charismatic characters we meet in this journey. Our original blend was named after Don Wilfredo Haslan, and our second blend we have named after Tadesse Meskela, a man who has arguably brought about more awareness of the struggles of a coffee farmers life then anyone else, in an effort to make the globalization of coffee work in the favor of his producers. There is a thought provoking documentary called Black Gold made about his story, and we hold him in very high regard.
One of our first cafe accounts was Pranah, a key Newtown cafe, who champion non-processed vegetarian food winsomely and who will now be our first cafe to apportion us with this new succulent blend -
Drop in to Pranah, stabilize your body and mind with some salubrious food and try the Tadesse, our distinguishing new blend in the bountiful mosaic of the Newtown cafe scene.
